Artist Statement
As an Iranian artist navigating the intersections of gender, identity, and sociopolitical narratives, my work focuses on the lived experiences of women in the Global South. I investigate the ways in which women’s bodies are shaped, controlled, and represented—both culturally and visually—through my paintings, mixed-media works, and sculptures.
Themes of the gaze, silence, shame, and resilience echo throughout my artistic practice. I strive to capture not only the pain but also the inner strength of women whose stories are often untold or misrepresented. My process is deeply introspective and often draws upon personal memories and collective trauma.
Currently, I am developing a sculptural collection exploring the symbolism of mannequin feet and fragmented faces—a metaphor for the commodification and objectification of female bodies. These forms speak to both the loss of identity and the imposed beauty standards that reduce women to parts rather than wholes.
My practice is both a personal and political act of reclaiming narrative and space—an invitation to see beyond the surface.
