Artist Statement

The Portrait Collection
In this collection, I have focused on the complexities of human emotions. Using the techniques of dry brush and rough pencil strokes, I have distanced the faces from traditional realism. These faces are not merely visual representations; rather, they are intimate reflections of the human mind and soul.
The interplay of warm and cool colors, alongside unstable lines and thick layers of paint, conveys inner turmoil, anxiety, intense emotions, and psychological fragmentation. The deliberate use of white space and intentional erasures not only reduces visual clutter but also becomes part of the narrative itself. The stories that emerge from these spaces carry meaning in their very absences.
Furthermore, some parts of the faces have been intentionally left incomplete or missing, allowing the viewer to connect with the work through their own experiences and personal perceptions.
This collection invites viewers to confront the aspects of themselves that are not always illuminated and are not easily understood.
