Artist Statement
In my painting practice, I construct a personal world through color, imagery, and emotion. Painting allows me to translate inner experiences, memories, and feelings into visual form rather than simply represent the external world.
My work explores human and more-than-human relationships through self-portraiture and subject-based series, using my subjects as starting points for reflecting on personal experiences and inner states.
My process is largely intuitive. I allow color, form, and imagery to evolve through the act of painting, remaining open to unexpected directions and allowing each work to gradually find its own shape.
Through painting, I seek to give form to feelings that are difficult to articulate in words, creating spaces where my experiences meet the viewer’s and invite personal connections.
In the Studio
Mahdieh is an Iranian visual artist and painter with a BA in Painting from Pars University of Art and Architecture.
Her practice explores personal experiences, emotional states, and human relationships, with a particular interest in the emotions that emerge within these relationships. Through color, imagery, and an intuitive approach to painting, she explores the relationship between inner experience and visual expression.
Her work includes a series of intuitive self-portraits, in which emotions emerge organically through the painting process rather than being predetermined, and a series exploring Alzheimer’s disease, focusing on memory, perception, and the inner world.
She has participated in group exhibitions at Javid Gallery (2024) and Saba Cultural Institute (2024), as well as a group exhibition on JA Platform (2025). In 2025, she also participated in Niki, an online group exhibition organized by Art Room Project as part of its Room Five project.
